An exciting opportunity has arisen for a project accountant to work for a vibrant events company, to ensure accurate and timely project information is provided to the Financial Controller and the Directors. This is a newly created role and will require a strong candidate to actively work with account managers and project managers throughout the event cycle to ensure successful completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Challenging overspends and owning the budget from a Finance perspective
  • Ensuring PO’s have been raised for all committed costs
  • Producing pre-event budgets/projections for the Directors
  • Liaising with project managers and stock controllers to ensure all client recharges are invoiced immediately post event
  • Working with AM’s and PM’s to reconcile project against budget and report on variances
  • Assist with month end closedown ensuring project accruals are in place within deadlines
  • Present a post event performance report (turnover, GP, COS, Spend per head) and identify trends and areas for improvement
  • Assist the Financial Controller in any other ad hoc projects

Person Profile

  • Past experience within the festival/hospitality/food and beverage industry is a must have
  • Previous experience with project accounting
  • Comfortable challenging senior managers on event budgets and expenditure
  • Confident communicator capable of explaining processes to non-finance backgrounds
  • Experience in budgeting and variance analysis
  • Able to work with large volumes of data and complex spreadsheets
  • 2-3 years experience in a similar role

System Skills

  • Advanced Excel skills essential (vlookup, sumif, Pivot tables)
  • Sage 50 experience desirable
