We currently have a vacancy for a Retail Area Business Manager to be field based in the South and West Midlands region.

The successful candidate will be required to sell ethically and profitably all Certas Energy Retail products, services and contracts to new customers in the retail market, through our retail brands - primary Gulf brand, and our Pace brand for more rural locations. They will also be required to be fully aware of retail activities within the region to ensure delivery of required results, whilst adhering to company policies and procedures and legislative requirements.


• To achieve the Retail Divisions business plan objectives of site signings, margin and volume targets through achievement of individual and team objectives
• To be fully conversant with all products and services provided by the Retail division; to cross-sell and up-sell on all products and services including our market leading cards package, lubricants, seasonal products, promotions, and where applicable heating oil and any other Retail initiative, wherever possible and where delivery infrastructure allows
• Assume individual and direct responsibility for the optimisation of the direct costs and fuel margin in their area of operation
• To maintain contact with all existing and potential customers through visits to ensure they are up to date with all of the products and services Certas Energy has to offer
? Monitor the actions of competition (pricing, promotion, offers, innovations etc.) as well as providing feedback on events / information which may impact the sector
• To take an active part in all Retail campaigns, trade shows and marketing exercises, increasing brand awareness and profile
• Act as a Network Developer of your area by consolidating existing networks and renegotiating contracts on the most profitable terms available in line with Network strategy
• Liaise with colleagues about brand development, ensure brand standards are maintained and developed within the region
• To help manage the growth of the Gulf and Pace brand within Certas Energy
• Via reporting, ensure controls are in place and manage processes to maximise performance
• Analyse fuel volumes and margins on a weekly basis, through CODAS and reports sent to you by your line Manager and the Retail Business Analyst on a weekly and monthly basis, detecting any deviation, abnormality or allocation error and highlight these on your weekly / monthly reports
• Ensure relevant and necessary communication with all internal stakeholders - particularly with regards to retail support roles such as Customer Engagement, all Cards departments, Marketing, PR, Credit, Supply, and Logistics.

Skills and Experience

• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Excellent presentation and communication skills and the ability to persuade and influence
• Financial competence to assess supply arrangements and understand the company’s financial criteria
• Time management and personal discipline to meet deadlines
• Accuracy and relevance of internal communication
• Experience of producing reports as and when required
• Working to individual targets that align with the business plan
• Excellent numeracy and literacy skills
• IT skills
