Job Title: Commercial Account Manager – Paving / Hard Landscaping

Industry Sector: Design & Build Contractors, House Builders, Developers, Main Contractors, Construction Contractors, Hard Landscaping Contractors, Ground Workers, Civil Contractors, Civil & Drainage Merchants and Builders Merchants

Area to be covered: South Central / South Coast (RG, DT, BH, SP, SO & PO postcodes)

Remuneration: £37,000-£39,000 Neg. + £7,500 Bonus

The role of the Commercial Sales Manager – Paving / Hard Landscaping will involve:

·Field sales role promoting our clients manufactured concrete range of block paving, curbs, edgings & other hard landscaping products

·A smaller proportion of your time cross-selling our clients manufactured range of drainage, street furniture and natural stone

·Targeting commercial projects with design & build contractors and more traditional construction contractors that have come from the traditional architect and specification process

·Typical project breakdown on this area: 40% residential groundwork contractors 30% commercial groundwork contractors working on public arenas (town centres), retail parks, commercial office blocks, highways etc and 30% repair and maintenance for local authorities, councils etc

·Circa 75% of your time will be spent visiting contractors either at head offices or construction sites (you will be expected to visit 20 construction sites per week)

·Dealing with a variety of contractors including; main contractors, design & build contractors, traditional construction contractors, groundwork contractors, civil contractors, hard landscaping contractors

·25% of your time managing five/six large civil merchants such as Keyline, Burdens and the specialist civil & lintel brand of Grafton Group, plus some smaller civils merchants

·£14m revenue responsibility, and 90% of its product lines are currently on budget (only available due to an internal promotion)

The ideal applicant will be a Commercial Sales Manager – Paving / Hard Landscaping with:

·Construction field sales background, ideally heavyside / civil related products

·Proven track record in account management

·Must have sold to contractors and fulfilled through a merchant, ideally civil & drainage associated

·Prior experience of selling direct to site would be a distinct advantage

·Energy to get round 20 construction site visits per week

·Ideally some project management experience

·Prior experience of managing an area of a similar value

·Prior experience of building relationships with heavyside or civils merchants is not essential but may be advantageous

·Ideally understanding of concrete hard landscaping including block paving, paving and curbs, although full product training will be given

·Hard working mentality
