Our client is a successful Construction / Interiors Contractor based in the West Midlands who have forged an excellent reputation within the construction industry and operates throughout the United Kingdom for a wide range of public and private clients undertaking internal and external refurbishment, alteration and fit-out projects ranging to £17,000,000. Due to continued expansion we are actively recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor with experience of commercial schemes to join the company on a permanent basis based in Walsall.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record within the industry as a Quantity Surveyor, be currently employed by a reputable construction / interiors contractor, have extensive experience of main contractors and of delivering high profile projects of values up to £17m.
Our client is a leading interiors / construction contractor who are involved with a high number of new build or refurbishment projects and the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the work is carried out to the highest of standards.
The successful individual will have experience of the following:
Sound & comprehensive understanding of the construction industry and the parties to it;
Proficient knowledge of measurement and valuation;
Good knowledge of standard forms of contract;
Proficient in reading drawings, specifications and knowledge of construction process;
Ability to negotiate with clients/sub contractors;
Ability to draft sub contracts;
Experience of undertaking risk assessments and valuation of them in conjunction with other project team members;
Ability to work in a team environment;
Experience of value engineering;
You must have proven experience of managing / surveying fast track new build or refurbishment projects, be customer focused and able to develop new / existing clients. You must be commercially astute, able to make a profit on contracts from £1m to £17m in value and with a thorough understanding of the building process.
Experience of working for construction main contractors is essential.
Excellent communication skills will be essential as you will be liaising with Clients, Consultants, sub-contractors and senior management.
