We are looking to recruit mental health nurses to bring caring and innovative support to older adults in South London. SLaM have a number of services across the region that specialise in supporting older adults with mental health problems. Our specialisms include dementia and all of our services are focused on helping adults over the age of 65 and their families. We offer the opportunity for nurses to become experts within the older adult framework and make a real difference to some of the most vulnerable people in our society. We are fortunate to be able to offer cutting edge support for our service users in an area that is growing rapidly.

Our priority is to ensure that service users feel respected and maintain their dignity. The services you will work in put the service users at the forefront of everything they do. You will work closely with different stakeholders and working closely as a team to ensure that high standards of care are upheld. The services will give you a platform to build therapeutic relationships and bring innovation and energy to your work.

Service users and their families will engage with you on a daily basis and are looking to be treated with respect and dignity. We want our nurses to be fully integrated in the mental health and wellbeing of everyone they work with and feel comfortable communicating with different stakeholders.

You must be a qualified RMN, LD Nurse or Acute Nurse in the final year of your RMN/LD/RGN course. Its important that you have an understanding of multidisciplinary services and the challenges that older adults face from their mental health problems. Communication skills must be of the highest standard, you will be expected to engage with very vulnerable adults and their families. You must show that you are caring and compassionate as well as a desire to uphold the dignity of the service users you support. We want to hire staff that are passionate about mental health, who believe in our recovery model and who will act as advocates for the reduction of stigma in our community. You must have an excellent understanding of safeguarding and how to work within professional boundaries. Roles at SLaM are challenging, stimulating and diverse.
