Managing Quantity Surveyor

North West

£65,000 & Package

General Contracting/New Build

Our client, a well-established North West Main Contractor with a first class reputation, are looking for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team in the North West around Liverpool and Manchester.

They have an increasing workload and require an experienced Quantity Surveyor to work alongside the Quantity Surveying team. Their principal areas of business predominantly include schools, healthcare, residential, leisure, and commercial.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Ensure tight financial control, to budget and to clients requirements
• Responsible for commercial aspects of projects and profit margins
• Manage target costs
• Prepare monthly CVRs
• Prepare subcontractor tender enquiries, agree monthly valuations
• Check and agree subcontractor applications and final accounts
• Undertake site visits when required
• Attend interim progress meetings
• Prepare tenders based on estimating procedures
• Supporting the team and more junior members
• Monitor and report build costs periodically reporting any savings and excesses, etc.

Key Competences and Experience Required:

• Previous experience in the discipline within the construction industry
• Reasonable knowledge of Building Regulations, NHBC and Health and Safety requirements
• Industry related business qualification
• Preferably member of CIOB or RICS
• Team working, negotiation, attention to detail, business acumen, customer focus, and strong time management skills
• Solid training and stable career track record with main contractors, ten years' experience
• A degree In Quantity Surveying
• Excellent commercial & financial awareness, with strong understanding of cost management
