About the role
We want to put social media at the heart of our media plan for the British Red Cross to help tell the story of people in crisis in the UK and around the world. We are looking for an social media enthusiast to help a new social media team innovate and develop a new strategy for the organisation.
You will plan, create and post engaging content on British Red Cross social media channels, working closely with the wider media department and colleagues from across the organisation. One day you might be live-tweeting a refugee journey, the next day helping launch a disaster appeal, the next highlighting the devastating impact of the social care crisis. It is a diverse brief suited to people who are plugged into the daily news agenda.
You might come from another charity, or have a background in journalism, but you will be rooted in social media, obsessive about finding new audiences to tell our stories to and naturally curious about tracking your results.

About the organisation

The British Red Cross helps millions of people in the UK and around the world to prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies, disasters and conflicts.

Our volunteers and staff help people in crisis to live independently by providing support at home, mobility aids and transport. We also teach first aid skills.

We are part of the global Red Cross and Red Crescent humanitarian network. We refuse to ignore people in crisis

About the team
We are currently reshaping the media and content teams to put social at the heart of what we do, finding new audiences to reach with the stories of the people in crisis that we help. You will be a crucial part of that team.

About the person
You will have experience working in social media and be able to demonstrate a flair for surprising and effective ideas. A team player, you will be able to show how you have contributed to successful campaigns in complex working environments.
