The Department:

The FisherE@se team, including the payroll department, comprises over 20 professionals who are located in our Watford office, as well as two teams based remotely overseas.

The department provides a highly efficient and cost effective way of providing accounting and back office services.

These services are designed to meet the requirements of organisations of different sizes - including regular bookkeeping assignments, monthly management accounts, preparation and submission of VAT returns online, payroll services, accounts receivable, accounts payable, preparation of annual statutory accounts and Corporation Tax computations, as well as a range of other accounting services.


We require a graduate trainee (with at least a 2:2 degree (or above) with a minimum of 280 UCAS points) or a school leaver with excellent A Levels, to work within the Bookkeeping Department (FisherE@se).


The successful candidate will be given training on:

  • Double-entry bookkeeping

  • Producing management accounts

  • The posting of sales invoices and the maintenance of sales ledger, the posting of purchase ledger invoices and the maintenance of bought ledger, the posting of bank receipts and bank payments, and the reconciliation of all bank accounts

  • Preparing quarterly VAT returns and reconciling VAT returns back to nominal ledger

  • Reconciling PAYE control accounts

  • Putting through monthly pre-payments and accruals

  • Using various computer packages such as Sage Line 50, Quickbooks, and AP

The Candidate:

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate various skills and qualities. You will be: -

  • Computer literate (experience of Microsoft Word and Excel is essential)

  • A quick learner

  • Able to work both independently and in a team

  • Numerate

  • Conscientious

  • Logical

  • Seeking your first step into accountancy

    In return you will be offered a two-year training contract to complete your AAT qualification. A suitable study package will be offered which will fit into the department’s work programme.

    Please note that this position is not suitable for those that are studying an alternative qualification or have completed AAT Level 3 or higher.
