About the role
We want to put social media at the heart of our media plan for the British Red Cross to help tell the story of people in crisis in the UK and around the world. We are looking for an inspired social media lead who is fizzing with ideas to show us what that should look like. You will shape our media plans, commission content for social and be a strong influence within the media management team.
You will be charged with developing and implementing an innovative and visionary social media strategy that grows the British Red Cross' social media audiences in smart and meaningful ways. You will manage a social media officer, commission editorial and content for social media channels and work to influence the entire organisation on its use of social media.
You might come from another charity, or have a background in journalism, but you will be rooted in social media, obsessive about finding new audiences to tell our stories to and tenacious in tracking your team's results.

About the organisation
The British Red Cross helps millions of people in the UK and around the world to prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies, disasters and conflicts.

Our volunteers and staff help people in crisis to live independently by providing support at home, mobility aids and transport. We also teach first aid skills.

We are part of the global Red Cross and Red Crescent humanitarian network. We refuse to ignore people in crisis

About the team

We are currently reshaping the media and content teams to put social at the heart of what we do, finding new audiences to reach with the stories of the people in crisis that we help. You will work as a senior member of that team, reporting directly to the director of media, commissioning and creating content for social audiences that supports and drives the work of the media team.

About the person
We are looking for someone with proven experience in social media who can demonstrate flair and creativity. They should be able to demonstrate how they have come up with surprising ideas, implemented them and won people round to support their endeavours. It will take someone with brilliant face-to-face communication skills to bring together the teams needed from different disciplines to achieve their projects.
