Will have at least 1-2 years experience in a Luxury Accessories Design department and have full understanding of the design process, undertake research and provide sketches, designs and mock ups for shoes and fashion accessories. In addition must be able to create detailed hand embroideries, intricate hand rope knot techniques, and other specialist embellishment craft techniques. Candidate must be able to work to critical path deadline and have a flexible approach to the role. Technical knowledge of accessories is essential.
A working knowledge of Chinese and Italian is desirable for communications with the factories.
Assist the Design team in the general day-to-day administration of the department.
Undertake research as briefed to fit with the next season’s influences.
Present research to the design team.
Prepare bag and shoe sketches to be reviewed by Creative Director.
Highly skilled in designing hand rope/ ribbon knot techniques.
Formulate design concepts.
Prepare and produce prototypes.
Design and produce hand embroideries.
Submit designs to Creative Director for approval.
Provide technical specifications of designs.
Identify/ have knowledge of materials and how they work to provide the best solutions for aesthetic and functional affect.
Excellent skills in manipulating a wide range of materials to communicate and create design ideas.
Have knowledge of production methods.
Oversee production of samples.
Rope work - create hand knotted rope techniques to embellish accessories.
Communicate directly with the factories in China and Italy.
Hours of work 9:30am - 18:30pm Monday to Friday - This can increase.
Holiday - 20 days per annum
