The Role

This is a new role created to ensure accurate reporting of all costs coming into Argos Financial Services and providing the adequate reporting and transparency to the business. You will support the strategic development of the business to make life better for our customers by ensuring the business reports and controls its costs effectively.The role will report directly into the Financial Controller and you will manage one direct report.

As a Cost Accountant your main responsibilities will include:

To produce analysis and reporting to influence cost making decision makers.
Ensure costs are recognised with the AFS companies in the correct and timely manner aligned to accounting principles.
Develop effective relationships with internal stakeholders including HR, Product, Credit Risk, Finance, Compliance and Legal.
Support the development, maintenance and enhancement of cost reporting packs.
Design and lead the introduction of activity based costing with AFS and educate the business to better understand the cost base.
Work cross functionally to help identify cost-saving opportunities and initiatives, providing an avenue to track and report changes made.
Management and development of the costs analyst.

As a Cost Accountant your skills & experience will ideally include:

Graduate calibre qualified accountant – CIMA / ACCA /ACA
Proven understanding and experience of cost management accounting.
Be a highly analytical individual with ability to get into the detail.
Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to challenge and influence at all levels.
Excellent planning and organisational skills, with an ability to balance a large range of priorities.
Good systems experience with strong Microsoft Office skills.
Financial services experience including FCA or regulated environment would be highly desirable.
