Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Assistant QS to help service a local authority contract. Housing and contractor background required.
Your new company
Based in East London my clients are a large contracting organisation who have a long-term contract in place with a London Borough to maintain the borough's housing stock. The contract covers most building related maintenance issues on both single dwelling homes and large estates. They are now looking to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the team on a permanent basis.
Your new role
As an assistant QS your job will be to work off a schedule of rates to ensure the contractual agreements are maintained. The work can range from the replacement of doors to large estate projects which can include kitchen and bathroom refurbishments to external building works such as new roofing, damp protection and other types of large scale maintenance projects.
Your job will be to make sure the costing is accurate and that the invoices generated are in line with the overall contract with the client.
You will carry out site inspections, calculate costs and liaise with the clients, making sure deadlines and targets are met.
What you'll need to succeed
As the successful candidate it is essential that you have social housing experience and come from a contractor background. Relevant QS qualifications are desirable but not essential for this job. If you have experience of dealing with schedule of rates, worked on the contracting side within housing, my clients will be willing to meet you.
It is also an essential requirement that you have good report writing skills and have experience of working with Microsoft Office programmes specifically Excel.
This is an assistant level job so training will be provided, however you must have the relevant experience or qualification to be successful.
What you'll get in return
Competitive salary on offer with a structured career path providing a variety of work to help you build a career in the QS industry.
