Research Grants Finance Officer

We’re Breast Cancer Now, the UK’s largest breast cancer charity - and we’re dedicated to funding research into this devastating disease. We believe that if we all act now, by 2050, everyone who develops breast cancer will live.

The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Grants Finance Officer to join Breast Cancer Now’s Research Funding Team, who oversee our research portfolio and ensure that our £16 million annual research spend is invested in innovative and ground-breaking research into breast cancer . The team manages our grant finances, research portfolio, oversees the scientific reviews and renewals of our research and evaluates the success of the research we fund against our research strategy.

You will manage the grant finance administration for active-grants across our entire portfolio, including preparing budgets, processing invoices and tracking expenditure.

With a good understanding of accounting processes and procedures, you will ensure that information is accurate between the Research and Finance team, including reconciliation of our grant management and finance databases, Grant Tracker and Open Accounts.

You will work collaboratively across the department and organisation, being the lead for the team on restricted income processes, and ensuring our Fundraising teams are provided with accurate and up to date research grant finance information

About you

You will have experience of managing research grant finances and budgets and have excellent attention to detail with demonstrable experience of working with research grant budgets; handling data and being able to absorb and interpret new information and data quickly and effectively.

You should have excellent organisation skills and an ability to work independently and manage your time effectively.

Your excellent interpersonal skills will enable you to develop proactive working relationships within the organisation and with our community of researchers and host institution contacts.

Applications from candidates with experience of managing research grant finances from an academic research finance department or research funder would be particularly welcome.
