Maintenance Supervisor

Coventry, West Midlands
Salary: Circa £31k, DOE
Contract: Permanent, 40 hours

About the Role:

A leading manufacturer in medical devices based in Coventry is looking for an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to join a busy engineering team.

Maintenance Supervisor - duties to include:

  • To support the efficient running and minimise downtime of the Production plants from both a planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and also plant equipment breakdown scenarios:
    • Ensure PPM schedules are carried out in accordance with the plan
    • Liaise with the Production Manager to prioritise equipment breakdown repairs
    • Provide mechanical and electrical engineering input to identify and resolve fault conditions
    • Ensure all plant engineering work and is undertaken to meet Medical Device Quality, Health and Safety and Environmental requirements
    • Supervise and monitor contractors to ensure contractors on site perform to Medical Device Quality, Health and Safety and Environmental requirements
    • If required implement and maintain Health, Safety systems to achieve compliance e.g. Permits to Work
    • Ensure all relevant documentation and paperwork is stored appropriately
    • Remain well informed of relevant Engineering and Health, Safety and Environmental standards
  • To maintain the availability of services to ensure business functions are not interrupted:
  • Support the maintenance of equipment, to ensure the provision of services
  • Supervise and monitor all people carrying out engineering functions on site to ensure performance to Health and Safety and Environmental requirements
  • To maintain the building infrastructure as required:
    • Support the maintenance of the building, by the identification and repair of defects as required
  • To provide engineering knowledge and experience for project work
    • Assist in any process validations that require any engineering input
  • Motivate and support the maintenance technicians and apprentices to improve development and performance
  • Monitor relevant budget cost centres and raise issues to prevent them being exceeded
  • Provide on call out of hours support in case of emergency on site/attend the site if required
  • Any other duties as required

Compliance responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance of engineering activities to relevant medical device standards so that those activities are performed in accordance with approved procedures
  • Assist CAPA investigation and resolutions where an engineering input is required

Maintenance Supervisor - Key skills / abilities:

  • Knowledge and understanding of safety systems and legislation
  • Experience of operating to GMP standards
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or team leadership role
  • A completed apprenticeship in Engineering, preferably NVQ Level 3 in Maintenance Engineering (Mechanical engineering or Electrical engineering)
  • Registered and working knowledge of the current electrical wiring regulations, Part 17.
  • Knowledge and experience of a process plant environment and building service equipment
  • Able to get on with and influence people both internally and externally to achieve objectives
  • Strong people and inter personal skills, able to coach and lead people effectively
  • The ability to effectively communicate with Management and colleagues both verbally and in written format
  • A motivated, enthusiastic and flexible attitude
  • Understanding of Medical Device regulations
