Core purpose of the role:
Your role is to be a Business Consultant to clients. You are both salesman and consultant. You drive the agency forward in revenue-building relationships with your specific clients. You are an expert ambassador for our client, valued by their clients for your contribution to their business.
Your core objective is to develop your client’s business, and in conjunction our client’s business, for mutual benefit. You will define and deliver the strategic direction of your client’s marketing, and sell-in the agency solutions, which fulfil that strategy.
Primary Objectives and Responsibilities:
A Business Consultant is the most senior representative of the agency (outside the Board), and your role is to lead the agency relationship with specific clients. You may sometimes do this in tandem with a Board Director, but the ownership and responsibility is yours.
You must develop intimate knowledge of your client’s business and their sector, and understand the personal objectives of your senior clients. You deliver the role of Business Consultant, by understanding their strategic imperatives, intended direction and business challenges, and becoming a trusted partner.
As the Business Consultant for a given client, you are the leader of client strategy development, partnering with our Planning and Insight team and Creative team to offer the best the agency has. You are the leader in this process, and it is your responsibility to ensure agency delivery of value adding solutions.
You will agree goals with the clients about where the agency is striving to take their brand, and clearly define the agency role. The client should see you as the 'go to’ point for advice, expertise and ultimately solutions to their marketing objectives.
As your client’s ambassador, you will own the agency work that your client receives.
Ensure that appropriate input, feedback and approval has happened at all key stages of the agency process, so that your client only ever receives our best work.
As a Business Consultant, you are also an ambassador within the agency. You must ensure that agency processes are enabling best in class work to be developed for your clients on a consistent basis, and must have the support of all other departments in the agency to do this.
Ensure your team are recognised as creating the conditions for excellence to happen throughout the agency, especially in high quality briefing (creative, production, supplier etc) to deliver great work.
Be a champion and a facilitator of Curiosity to your clients, delivering to them our agency proposition in an exciting and innovative manner, which reminds them of our unique value on their roster of supplier partners.
Whilst ultimately responsible for seamless delivery of campaigns, you will build a team empowered by you to deliver the solutions required by the client, ensuring that those solutions fully deliver against the strategy you have advocated.
Your team will take day-to-day responsibility for ensuring the correct processes are in place, client expectations are managed, and projects are implemented brilliantly. You will lead that team, ensuring they are fully briefed on strategy, supported by the business around them, and motivated to give their best.
You are expected to establish performance standards, personal goals and development objectives within your team, and make sure all members are clear on what being part of a High Performance Team means:

You above all, will lead your team, in the pursuit of the agency Client Services Goal - to be valued by every client for our contribution to their business that they simply cannot do without!
You are responsible for the commercial performance of your Client Group, reporting to the Board and making recommendations for investments or re-forecasts as necessary. You will be skilled at gaining Board support and approval of your plans for your client’s development.
By owning the responsibility for the team structure, recruitment and fee negotiations you will manage your team profitability to agreed targets and minimise unrecovered hours.
