General Manager
£50,000 - £60,000 plus performance related bonus, car and benefits
Our client is a specialist engineering business manufacturing high quality precision engineered parts through highly developed technological processes, one of which allows them to craft uniquely tailored materials that cannot be produced in any other way. Currently supplying a range of blue chip customers predominantly in the oil and gas industry, they have a real opportunity to substantially expand their services across other sectors. As such, the company now wishes to recruit a capable and experienced General Manager who will add substantial value to the future of the business. Working closely with the owners on a regular basis, this role gives an ambitious individual the opportunity to take up a broad remit which will encompass operational, financial and technological management aspects, along with contract management, HR and personnel management, business development and strategic input in to the decision making process.
Specific duties and responsibilities will, amongst other tasks, include the following:
The achievement of stretching financial targets including full P&L responsibility and cash management
Develop a "best in class" environment and mentality throughout, including cutting edge product offering and exceptional customer service
Lead from the front to assess opportunities for growth and market expansion beyond the oil and gas sector
Implement systems, processes, controls and management structures to enable substantial future growth to be achieved
Deliver the business plan by utilising your operational management, business development and people strategies
Drive and deliver product and manufacturing innovation

As a graduate calibre individual in an engineering or materials science or related discipline, to be successful in this role you will need to be/possess the following:
Proven track record of success within high specification engineering and manufacturing environments
Entrepreneurial flair
Ability to operate in a private equity environment
A strong leader, with an inclusive management style and the ability to comfortably embrace the shop floor and the Board
A commitment to coaching and mentoring
Used to operating in an SME environment, reporting to the owners
Commercially and financially astute, with proven financial and budget responsibility
Well developed sales and marketing skills
Excellent organisational, communications and interpersonal skills
An analytical, problem solving approach
Understanding and appreciation of metallurgy or materials science
Understanding of international API, oil and gas, chemical process supply chains and the associated contract management, compliance and standards
A sense of humour
