CGI's space team is growing rapidly and has a particular need for a Senior Satcoms Systems Engineering Consultant to work on a number of key Satellite communications projects and bids within the UK Space Business Unit Satcoms Account within CGI.

Your role will involve: * Taking a lead consultancy and systems engineering technical architect role in projects and bids related to satellite communications and networks system design, for satellite operators, service providers and end users of satellite communications services.
  • Supporting the Account Manager in creating new business opportunities for CGI in the satellite communications marketplace
  • Taking a lead technical role in the bidding process for IT systems being procured by satellite operators or service providers.
  • Acting as technical authority / provide expert guidance on satellite communications concepts to project teams in the delivery of these projects.

Mandatory requirements:
  • Previous technical management experience of software intensive ground systems within the space industry, with a focus on Satcom;
  • Proven consulting ability to advise senior telecoms customers on future systems design and working with stakeholders to devise new service concepts, including leading studies and writing technical study reports/documents;
  • Significant experience in the telecommunications area, some or all in satellite communications, in a software systems technical design and/or systems engineering role;
  • A University degree (or equivalent qualification) in engineering, physical sciences or mathematics;
  • Proven expertise in system engineering methodology;
  • Must be able to work in an environment where requirements change often and quickly, and have the ability to assimilate new information rapidly and derive suitable courses of action;
  • Must have strong written and presentation skills, with excellent attention to detail;
  • An ability to anticipate risks and mitigate appropriately is essential;
  • Able to work from CGIs Leatherhead office on a daily basis if required;
  • Able to work from client sites in UK and Europe as required.

  • Demonstrates good commercial acumen and business awareness;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Self-motivated and able to tackle technical assignments and problem solving without support from others;
  • Previous security architecture design;
  • Proven project management and subcontractor management experience;
  • Previous Satcom network operations centre systems / resource management systems design, development and integration experience..

Starting salaries depend on the current level of expertise and experience. Our roles require Security Clearance to SC Level, so you must have lived and worked in the EU for the past 5 years, and be willing to obtain this level of clearance if you do not already have it.
