The role would be to produce software programs (for both PLC and SCADA) for process control and automation solutions primarily for the food and beverage industry.

The Software Engineer’s role will be to interpret customer requirements and translate into the necessary programming to match the application.
Where applicable the software engineer will work with the end user to generate a FDS (Functional Design Specification Specification).
Once this document have been generated then the software engineer will expected to either work alone or as part of a team to write comprehensive, bespoke code to successfully control the end users process as per design requirements, you may be required to write simulation code to allow for a SAT (Software Acceptance Test) to take place.

On certain projects, where a MCC or other electrical equipment has been designed and built by the company, you will be expected to be involved in the full testing of this equipment from a software perspective, Thus ensuring all of the control loops and network interfaces are set up and working correctly.
You will work with a Electrical Design Engineer to resolve any issues before delivery to the client.

Travel:

As part of the commissioning process you will be required to travel to the End users premises to carry out final process commissioning and acceptance, you will be expected to travel within the UK as well as abroad to such areas Europe, the Middle East, Eastern Block Countries, North and South America as well as Asia and the Indian sub continent.

Most commissioning trips will be of 1 to 3 week duration, but on occasion up to 6 weeks away from home may be necessary




Skills Required

Experience within the food industry is an advantage
• Strong technical electrical understanding and experience is essential, preferably time served apprenticeship
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential
• Process Logic Control (PLC) and SCADA Experience is essential
• Testing and Fault finding to component level would be an advantage (Electrical qualification
