VP, Global Planning & Stress Testing Lead

The Planning and Stress testing team is responsible for coordinating and recommending the optimal commercial plan of the firm across the post structural reform corporate structure. This role is in the ALM, Funding planning, P&L and balance sheet pillar of the team. This team:

  • Reviews P&L and Balance sheet of the group to ensure the commercial story is well understood and coherent with the information elsewhere in the plan
  • Distils key corporate messages arising from that plan, and recommends challenges to clusters in order to deliver a fully compliant, optimised plan
  • Runs interconnected, coherent legal entity funding plans to support Outlook, planning, stress tests and scenario planning
  • Recommends plan to key stakeholders, Entity treasurers, Heads of Funding and Liquidity Management and Balance sheet management as well as the CME and FSTI funding desks
  • This role works closely with other elements of the Planning and Stress testing framework, with clusters and Treasury to provide robust interlocked plans. There are also significant elements of enhancement using the firms tools and engagement with strategic enhancements to the plan

  • This role works alongside existing resource and the team looks at the below. This role will encompass elements of the workload of the team and give opportunities to work on other aspects of Planning and Stress testing:
Key Accountabilities and Skills required:

Key specific accountabilities

  • Oversee successful end to end delivery of assigned Board and ExCo presentations, analytics and briefings
  • Infer and present key messages and decision points to management through quality material, succinct commentary and precise delivery style
  • Support optimisation phase through modelling and targeted follow up as required
  • Lead workstreams to define and deliver enhancements to content in order to deliver enhanced capability and support the overall Structural reform agenda
  • Oversee successful end to end delivery of assigned internal and external stress test output
  • Contribute to successful planning and stress testing readiness stage by defining the end goal, articulating business requirements, building review decks and supporting analytics and providing input to instructions as required
  • In addition for external stress testing ensure success by ensuring submission template requirements are appropriately articulated and understood and design appropriate review framework
  • Ensure success in plan delivery and optimisation phase through appropriate analytical review of business submissions and business engagement through face to face meetings and cross team central reviews
  • Gain a broad understanding of the component parts of the Global Planning and Stress Testing team through an open, collaborative and team-focussed approach
Stakeholder management and leadership

  • Establish relationships with key stakeholders - Heads of Planning, BP&A Heads, Reporting and Capital teams
  • Strong upwards relationship management

Profile

  • Strong communication and presentation skills able to distil key messages from large datasets, and engage proactively and clearly with Director and MD level stakeholders outside the immediate team
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong powerpoint, commentary, excel and modelling skills
  • Well organised, resilient and drives to achieve stretch objectives
  • Experience of working across both base and stressed datasets, with a sound understanding of the rationale and purpose of stress testing for banks
  • Working with multiple diverse stakeholders in order to achieve a common goal
  • Strong controls awareness, and experience of balance sheet reconciliations
