International IT service provider seeks a systems engineer to join their busy central London team. You must have previous experience (1+ years) within an IT infrastructure environment with hands-on experience in Cisco switches & router and some Juniper SSG/SSL-VPN ideally.
Purpose of the Role
  • To provide quality engineering services for onsite / remote day-to-day support working as a team with partners’ IT staff, supporting a large Pan-European multi-branch client.
  • Combines a strong & clear commitment to customer satisfaction with a desire to progress one’s technical skills.
  • To assist all engineers, project manager and other members
  • Produce and submit task/test script, service report & other such documents in timely manner

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Service Desk and On-site Service
  • Provide 1st and 2nd line external customer support as well as internal IT user support as part Service Desk Operation
  • Raise, update, and close calls on service desk call management system
  • Resolve or escalate problems and service requests
  • Provide accurate and timely diagnosis and rectification of customer faults
  • Work proactively to ensure prompt resolution of support cases and the highest possible levels of customer satisfaction
  • Provide regular check-up and/or on-site maintenance works for service environment
  • Understand customer's IT policy and do not advise users against the policy

System maintenance services
  • Maintain customer systems in regular and/or on demand basis
  • Present at customer’s office in regular and/or on demand basis
  • Maintain support related documents (e.g. Site manual, Asset List, User Manual, etc.)
  • Maintain licenses and run inventory regularly

Customer Management
  • Manage customer’s requirements and wishes for both technical and non-technical
  • Maintain customer relationship
  • Report customer’s complaint to Supervisor / Line Manager immediately

System Integration / Office Relocation Services
  • Provide systems installation
  • Provide system migration, move and removal
  • Produce and update technical documents
  • Assist development of new products and services

Third-Party Management
  • Manage third-party in helpful manner
  • Represent to third-party on behalf of customers
  • Manage and control service and/or product delivery of third-party

Projects Management
  • Assist in design and implementation work for customers on-site/off-site
  • Produce and update project documents

Pre-sales
  • Assist to present pre-sales document/proposal to customers co-working with sales department

Internal IT
  • Assist planning and promote internal IT systems including laboratory environment
  • Implement and introduce new IT systems and upgrade existing system
  • Maintain laboratory systems availability, integrity and confidentiality

Ideal candidate
Essential:
  • 1 year or more experience in IT infrastructure industry
  • Good communication skill with clients or end users
  • Good team player
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, Power Point) 
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent 
  • 1+ year of experience within an IT support role
  • Ability to work flexibly, on own initiative & as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritise & manage own workload
  • Clear & articulate English speaking skill, majority of end users are non-native English speakers

Desirable
  • Cisco switch & router hands-on experience
  • Juniper SSG/SSL-VPN hands-on experience
  • VMware vSphere hands-on experience
  • Experience with Windows services: AD, DHCP, DNS, GPO, Pinter queues, Shared folders
  • WAN/LAN network troubleshooting 
  • Product knowledge for BackupExec, ARCserve, MDT, SCCM, SEP operation
  • Operating system knowledge Windows 7, Windows 2003 R2, Windows 2008 R2
  • Cisco CCNA
  • IT related Degree
  • Ability to manage relationships with tact & diplomacy
  • Ability to interpret & process large complex information
  • Excellent writing skills, including the ability to write accurate & easy to read copy for a range of audiences
