Java Developers - Leatherhead, Surrey

Position Description
We are looking for a number of developers to join us in Leatherhead, Surrey to work on Space projects for a variety of major clients including European Space Agency, Inmarsat, ECMWF, Eumetsat and Airbus. You will be working on the prestigious European Galileo Navigation programme. Our developers typically work in teams alongside architects, designers and testers against client requirements using industry standards to implement some of Europe's most exciting IT projects. You will be supported and encouraged to understand the full project lifecycle in order to provide the best solutions to our clients' needs.

With over 36 years in the industry, CGI Space is a rapidly growing business with exciting projects and prospects across the Navigation, Earth Observation, Satcoms and Spacecraft Operations domains. We currently have around 500 members working on projects in the UK, Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands. The responsibilities will include:

* Analysing existing high-level design and Interface Control Documents to derive detailed design documentation,
* Writing detailed designs based on high level designs of components,
* Following the agreed design documentation to implement the components,
* Write module & component test cases
* Raising observation reports for bugs/anomalies in the system requirements and the system being tested. Required qualifications to be successful in this role
You will have experience developing in Java and C++. You will have a university degree (or equivalent) in computer science, maths, physics, engineering, or other numerate subject.

Essential Skills:

* At least 3-5 years of Java and C++ development experience
* Experience of the development and testing lifecycle
* Experience of developing to stringent development standards (Space, Defence standards etc)
* Experience of testing to stringent testing approach (Unit, Module etc)

Highly Desirable Skills:

* Google Web Toolkit or similar technology
* Subversion or another configuration management tool
* Knowledge of SQL or another OO language (C#, C++)
* Oracle DB. Any previous knowledge of Galileo
* Experience of Secure projects

This role is based in Leatherhead and will require full time attendance at our Leatherhead offices.
