Java Technical Lead

In this key Software Technical Architect role, you will have responsibility for overseeing the delivery of technical aspects of a variety of bespoke software development projects. You will work with clients across a range of industries, and will play a key role in understanding technical requirements and providing the overall vision to allow the goals of each particular project to be achieved. You will provide technical leadership within the delivery team, and provide the guidelines and standards that define the patterns, practices and technologies utilised within system components. You will be working on enterprise scale, client facing software / applications, and will have a strong understanding of non-functional requirements and application security.

You will have the following:

  • A background in technical leadership in the delivery of bespoke, complex, enterprise / web scale software development projects using Java technology.
  • A demonstrable background in hands-on commercial software development – we are looking for someone who is “close to the code” – someone who is able to work closely with development teams and carry out code reviews whilst also being able to design, document and facilitate technology solutions.
  • A broad range of technical knowledge, with ideally a good understanding of virtualisation / cloud based solutions.
  • Exceptional client facing skills – a key part of this role will involve working closely with clients to gain a deep understanding of their requirements.
  • Strong experience of requirements analysis, with a good understanding of non-functional requirements and how these can shape solution architecture.
  • A keen interest in new and emerging technology – the ability to make informed decisions about the most appropriate technology to utilise on any given project.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills – the ability to communicate effectively with experienced technical colleagues.
  • A confident and authoritative manner – the ability to present ideas to senior stakeholders within blue chip organisations.
  • Experience of working to Agile / iterative development methodologies.
