A FTSE listed communications company are looking for a new Data Engineer to work on a cutting edge project in an emerging area of the business which is set to grow rapidly over the coming years

COMPANY

This company is a leading communications firm with over 3 decades of experience. They are headquartered in London and have a headcount in the thousands.

THE ROLE

If you were to be successful in your application for the Data Engineer (Python, Linux/Unix, SQL, Time series databases) role your responsibilities would include:

- Lead the design and implementation of data systems and pulling data from disparate sources using Python scripting
- Lead the creative and strategically minded analysis of large data sets, extracting actionable insight to inform aero systems design
- Drive the collection of new data and advise on relevant technologies/methods of big data analysis
- Work closely with the operations team to provide required data to diagnose issues and improve quality of products and services
- Communicate data-driven insights and trends to key stakeholders

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

- Strong Python Programming ability
- Advanced data and analysis skills as well as scripting experience in Linux/Unix
- Strong Academic background- ideally some knowledge of statistics
- Excellent knowledge of relational databases (SQL, PostgreSQL)
- An appreciation of Statistical techniques would be advantageous
