We are currently undergoing a major transformation project with the re-platforming of our core web sites, and the introduction of new technologies and solutions around it. As this project is at early stage, we are looking for the right personnel to take on this is an exciting opportunity to make their mark and shape our future.

What is the role?
  • We are offering an excellent opportunity for an individual to join us, to assist in building and delivering new web services/sites to our global network of travel agents and customers.
  • Initially the role will report into the Director of IT.
  • You will be responsible for in designing and developing new web sites developed primarily in PHP and Drupal 7/8
  • You will work closely with our 3rd party development partners, helping guide and learning from them, ensuring our expectations are met.
  • You will be working closely with our Junior Web/QA developer, helping developer him/her and ensure they get the right level of support to ensure they grow.
  • You will be working closely with the Director of IT to ensure the smooth delivery of our flagship website development.
  • You will help architect our new solutions, working with the senior team, ensuring that we can manage/enhance our existing solutions
  • You will as part of the senior IT management team be involved in ensuring our existing .NET solutions are supported and our legacy systems are migrated to our new architecture.
  • Working within a team, you will fix on fail the here and now, then flourish in the future, bringing a passion and flair to your development responsibilities.

The kind of person we are looking for:

Skills:
  • Excellent Drupal (7 or 8), PHP, HTML, HTML5, XHTML and CSS mark-up.
  • A good understanding of Drupal Commerce and how it would work for our requirements
  • A good understanding of formulating multifaceted and hierarchical taxonomies.
  • Proficient in JavaScript and a knowledge JavaScript frameworks (e.g. jQuery / Angular JS).
  • Understanding testing processes and solutions and ideally automated testing platforms such as Selenium.
  • Ideally someone who has exposure to LAMP stack
  • Ideally someone who is equally at home on Windows or Linux based platforms.
  • Understand the importance of source control and it is critical nature in delivery solutions.
  • Ideally a computer science or engineering graduate, although someone who has relevant exposure at home and work would be considered.
  • A creative, but logical thinker that understands there many ways to solve a problem some of which aren’t always obvious.
  • An understanding of current and emerging web architectures and integration across multiple platforms and browsers.
  • Delivering design models and end-to-end solution designs within a complex eCommerce environment.
  • Consistent QA approach to development work packages and utilisation of version control tools.
  • Integration of third party businesses, HTML Email best practice and OO.
  • Ability to present to and influence a wide variety of audiences, from technical teams to director level.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal communications, with a high degree of literacy and numeracy.
  • A passion for quality technical designs and architectures, coupled with a pragmatic approach to design that will ensure effective solutions.
  • Burning desire to drive change and improve our ways of working.
