Working with the Contracting Division of a main Water Board Company. They are currently looking for a Business Development Manager where you will report directly to the Head of Business. - This is a lead role but will be part of a small and dedicated team.

This will be a permanent position paying £35,000 - £40,000 plus attractive benefits and a company car based out of Walsall.

Key responsibilities include:

Generating Sales:

- Identify and secure business opportunities for the pipelines and develop new customers
- Identify strategies, develop emerging opportunities and fully exploit them
- Nurture and manage relationships with existing and previous clients
- Follow up enquiries generated elsewhere within the business e.g. website, other BDMs, estimating, operations.
- Liaise with other BDM personnel to leverage common customers
- Chase up outstanding quotes and liaise with Sales Estimators to update status of projects
- Provide relevant company and services information to customers, undertaking site visits when appropriate

Administration:

- Compile weekly activity reports and attend monthly Business Development team meetings
- Gather information from site visits and update sales database
- Accurately maintain potential client's records
- Accurately maintain sales pipeline details i.e. follow up update status of quotes
- Accurately maintain and report on sales performance
- Keep informed about issues affecting related industry sectors and collect competitor information

Promotion:

- Ensure that company image and standards are maintained
- Assist with marketing campaigns
- Attend exhibitions as a delegate or exhibitor
- Assist with promotional activities e.g. case study production, web content, editorials, and social media postings.
- Support the production of Tender documents

Person Specification:

- Personal and professional demeanour and credibility, which commands confidence of external partners, key stakeholders, members, clients, senior managers and employees.
- Drive and motivation to identify, meet and develop relationships with as many potential customers Exceptional relationship management and networking abilities coupled with a genuine passion for the services.
- Natural gravitas to engage with and influence senior executives
- Able to identify and realise good quality commercial opportunities
- Hold of a full, clean UK Drivers Licence

Experience Required:

- Experience of working for a civil engineering/utility based Contractor, in a customer facing role
- Proven track record in delivering sales across a diverse client base and also experience in business development activities.
- A proven track record in business development in this area would be ideal.
