We work closely with, Local Authorities and Social Care Organisations providing a complete outsourced service that significantly reduces costs, delivers better quality and an enhanced customer experience.

What are we looking for in a Building Surveyor/Technical Caseworker?


To manage and to be accounted for the day to day operational delivery of both contractual and commercial activities within budgetary targets, complying with internal and external governance policies.


• Provide advice and support to clients to apply for Disabled Facility Grants, Home repairs grants, charitable funding or funding from Landlords by completing necessary eligibility checks and completing associated application forms. 
• Provide advice and support to service users and stakeholders on the technical aspects of carrying out improvements, and adaptations to properties the recommendations of health or social care professional.
• Visit clients in their own homes and survey the property for the required building works, and undertake a full layout measurements of affected areas -This may include but not limited to: level access showers, access ramps, adapted Kitchens, and extensions and other related works.
• Produce drawings and prepare full working specifications, schedules of works and drawings for building works and adaptations. This will include using drawing software.
• Obtain relevant permissions for building works (where required) including but not limited too such as full planning applications, over agreements, conservation areas, listed buildings and party wall agreements
• Provide all relevant documentation to Local Authorities for permission of Planning, Building Control and ensure that all statutory notices are dealt with expeditiously according to statutory requirements for larger, complex and smaller scale works.
• Carry out risk assessments to CDM regulations and comply with and ensure compliance to current health and safety and other relevant legislation
• Maintain customer records electronically and ensure that the client and other databases are fully utilized, ensuring all documentation and drawings are stored electronically in the correct places and that the database system is fully updated at all times
• Where required prepare preliminary costing for prospective work for discussions with clients, grants officer, and other parties to give outline budget cost and initial specifications and drawings for consideration; developing innovative, cost effective services that meet local need.
• Work in partnership with and liaise with Occupational Therapists, local authority grants officers, Landlords and Clients to obtain agreement to schemes of work
• Obtain competitive fixed quotations of work, evaluate the quotation agree and order the works using various forms of building works contracts and advise all involved parties accordingly ensuring the successful delivery of home improvement services
• Collate and check all certificates and invoices on completion of works to release contractor’s payment.
• Monitor works within the defects liability period ensuring no adverse effects, now or in the future
• Ensure customers are involved in shaping agency services they receive to maximise their customer wellbeing and ensure that their individual requirements are met
• Ensure excellent communication between Technical Officers, Occupational Therapists, Caseworkers and other teams and external liaison with stakeholders that promotes Millbrook Healthcare reputation and delivers on service targets.
• Carry out company provided training and to obtain and maintain Trusted assessor NVQ 3 qualification

To be considered for this position you have the following:


• Excellent organisational skills with a good eye for detail
• Administration and customer service skills are required
• Experience of managing workload effectively.
• Working knowledge of building & planning and CDM regulations
• Knowledge of DFG legislation
• Previous experience within a registered ISO9002 company would be desirable with evidence of working within set quality procedures
• Knowledge of health and social care services general operating methods
• Full UK Driving licence – preferably clean
• A recognised building or building technician qualification such as ONC HNC Btec in construction or technical time served equivalent.
• Any other qualification in IT or Administration would be an advantage
• Provide an appropriate technical skill set for creating building alterations
• Clearly show an understanding of adaptations within an occupied dwelling
• Define contractor management techniques
