About the Role

We are looking for a Nurse to work on our London based client sites. Ideally, the successful candidate will be OH qualified but this is not a requirement for the role. This is a full time role, where the successful candidate will work 37.5 hours per week.

The role involves delivering a professional service in which you will be exposed to a wide range of challenges. You will need to liaise directly with other departments and individuals. We are looking for a genuine team player, who can work alongside a team of experts and industry professionals.

You will receive all the support you need from our senior management team, as we work together to bring success to this department and the company as a whole. We work with a wide range of small and large corporate clients across a range of industry sectors, so the challenges are varied every day.

The main duties of the role include:

  • Act as a professional role model and provide strong, facilitative and effective clinical leadership.
  • To assess new clients presenting to Occupational Health whether in person or by written referral and initiate management of case.
  • To assess clients fitness to work for the appropriate job role in line with DHC policies and guidelines and issue appropriate fitness certificates to the line manager, client and file copy.
  • To write letters to GP/Specialists in line with the Access to Medical reports Act and Data Protection Act.
  • To respond to client/manager's requests for support/information on the working environment.
  • To provide support to clients.
  • To maintain appropriate records in line with departmental protocols on record keeping.
  • To provide health surveillance in accordance with current legislation.
  • To empower Occupational Health Nurses to undertake a wider range of clinical activities by ensuring appropriate training, updating and monitoring of relevant training programmes. In line with DHC policies and guidelines.
  • To provide positive, professional, accountable leadership to ensure the advancement of nursing practice and the role of Occupational Health within DHC.
  • Any other duties within the scope of the post commensurate with grade.
  • To provide clinical support and cover to all peripatetic Occupational Health Clinics managed within the contract.
  • To maintain valid and up to date registration with the NMC and comply with NMC guidelines in relation to professional issues and clinical supervision.
  • To maintain a flexible approach to the role according to professional and service needs.
  • To undertake any other duties commensurate with the level of the post.

Essential Criteria:

Candidates must be:

  • Able to prioritise and manage time effectively
  • Approachable.
  • Work confidently independently and also within a team framework.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Confident in their IT skills.
  • Flexible.
  • Able to demonstrate evidence of up to date knowledge.
  • Self-motivated and take a proactive approach to work.

Candidates must have:-

  • Registration with NMC Part 1.
  • Evidence of up to date knowledge base of professional and specialist issues.
  • Sound educational background including a good standard of numeracy and written English.
  • Previous experience in A&E would be beneficial.

Desirable Criteria:

A&E experience would be beneficial for this role but is not essential.

It is desirable for nurses to have experience in the following areas, however training can be provided:

  • Audiometry.
  • Spirometry.
  • HAVS.
  • Skin assessments.
  • Fitness for work medicals.
  • Pre-placement questionnaires.
  • Drug and alcohol testing.
  • Health promotion.
  • Face Fit testing.

Knowledge and experience of working in occupational health.
