A established Lloyd's Managing Agency are currently looking for a Head of Underwriting Management reporting to the Director of Underwriting to join the London office.

Principal Responsibilities:

To report to the Director of Underwriting (DOU) and assist in all matters relating to the smooth running of the day to day operations of the managed syndicate(s).
To be primarily responsible for the monitoring of the managed live syndicate(s) working closely with the Active Underwriters and their teams on a day to day basis.
To ensure that the managed syndicate(s) maintain their required level of performance to meet the requirements set in the agreed managed syndicates' Business Plans.

The Head of Underwriting Management will fulfil the following duties:

Develop an understanding of all aspects of the operation of the syndicate(s).
Assist the DOU, Active Underwriter (AU) and Class Underwriters in the following:-
All aspects of the managed syndicate's operation, including monitoring and control and supervision of underwriting and the professional conduct of all underwriting staff. Determining the underwriting authority limits for other underwriting staff, if applicable
Preparation of all syndicate management material including but not limited to, the syndicate Business Plan, monthly management reports and premium income, and to assist as required, on claims developments, reinsurance protection, QMR and ICA's etc.
Monthly review of the syndicates' planned premium income, lines of business allocation, aggregate monitoring and realistic disaster scenarios calculations.
Preparation, approval and submission of syndicate returns via Lloyd's Core Market Returns, in accordance with Lloyd's regulatory timetable.
Maintaining all underwriting records and data.
Monitoring the development of underwriting tools in order to crystallise pricing structures and other risk management tools.
Addressing any concerns with regard to the underwriting with the underwriters in the first instance and to the Board.
Conducting a review of the monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements of the syndicate(s) including a review of estimates issued and reinsurance to close calculations.
Review the standard of Management Information (MI) produced from the underwriting systems and make recommendations for improvements through the Operations/IT Committee.
Conducting ad hoc reviews as requested by the Board or other directors of any matter relating to the underwriting businesses.

Experience and Skills required

Significant experience of underwriting management within a Lloyd's syndicate environment
Underwriting experience within the Lloyd's environment advantageous
Operations Management within the Lloyd's environment advantageous
