An opportunity to take an active lead in directing the Corporate Audit department of this Top 10 Firm. With an enviable reputation within a number of sectors, they are now actively growing their coverage of other markets. Their international network provides opportunities for secondments and transfers as well as a clear potential route to partnership for the right individual.
Providing assurance and advisory services their family office clients include overseas family trusts, investment funds and their personal and corporate interests, and their corporate clients include multi-national groups and companies operating in the shipping, property investment, energy and technology sectors.

The role will incorporate the following duties and responsibilities:
• Review work prepared by junior staff, ensuring files have been conducted in accordance with the firm’s guidelines, including review of the planning memorandum, the working paper file, the financial statements and audit conclusions
• Plan assignments in accordance with ISAs using the software provided
• Ensure partners review and sign off planning papers, to ensure fieldwork of the audit can start within a timely manner
• Liaise with clients on issues which affect their business, explaining, when necessary in ‘laymen’ terms the technical issues they face and how they can be resolved
• Ensure each clients company accounts are filed within the statutory timelines
• Draft and review the team’s reports and management letters for submission to clients and present to a partner for approval
• Assist the partner in drafting the audit report
• Maintain a thorough and up-to-date knowledge of UK GAAP and / or IFRS
• Responsible for day-to-day staffing and technical matters and resolve any problems which may arise
• Ensure junior members of the audit team are aware of the significant risks, enabling them to understand the risks in order that they complete the audit to a satisfactory level
• Monitor and review the department submissions on job appraisals and analyse them for trends, performance issues and development needs. Reporting to partners any planned actions that need to be taken
• Coach and support audit managers both in their role and in team development
• Suggest ideas and concepts for increased marketing opportunities with existing clients
• Specialise in marketing a particular area(s) of expertise, with a view to developing niche markets
• Assume full responsibility for preparing and presenting internal and external presentations/training courses

As a manager of a portfolio of varied and complex clients, and leading a team with responsibility for meeting budget requirements, you will need to display the following attributes:
• Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
• Excellent knowledge of UK GAAP and / or IFRS
• Competent at using MS Office
• Ideally previous exposure / working knowledge of PROaudit / Alphatax, Pertax, Sage Line 50 etc
• People management skills (proven experience of managing a team at supervisory level)
• Good communication and presentation skills
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Able to influence internal / external clients and colleagues
• Proven planning and prioritising skills
• Able to work under pressure with accuracy and focus
• Able to demonstrate problem solving skills
• Keen to add value to clients’ businesses
