The Role of the Accounts Assistant

We are now looking for an energetic finance professional to help manage the financial functions of the business. You'll have an AAT or equivalent qualification and 3+ years previous experience including Xero software use. The role reports to the finance manager and is based in our Brighton head office.

Responsibilities of the Accounts Assistant

Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable
Raising invoices
Reconciling cash income
Reconciling stock
Purchase Orders
Staff expenses
Supplier payments
Reconcile bank accounts
Weekly and monthly payroll including overtime, holiday, and sickness records
PAYE payments
Manage employee benefits such as pensions, benefits-in-kind etc.
VAT
Monthly and Quarterly VAT returns on time
Management of accounting records and preparation of monthly management accounts on a timely basis
Organising all of the administrative activities to facilitate the smooth running of the office

Candidate Profile for the Accounts Assistant

We are looking for an ambitious, results-focused individual who demonstrates a high level of professional integrity and extremely strong technical understanding and skills across a broad range of finance functions. You will bring a passionate and proactive style to the finance function and have the ability to work in a pressurised environment.

AAT or equivalent qualifications
Proven experience of Xero accounting software
Proficient user of Excel and other MS Office software
Strong analytical reporting and communication skills
A good problem solver who actively looks for improvements
Maintains a flexible attitude and approach to changing requirements and priorities
Ability to work accurately and adhere to key deadlines
