Tax Qualifications Technical Adviser
This full time, permanent role can be based out of the London OR Glasgow office for this global accountancy body. A home-based office will also be considered as long as the candidate is happy to travel on an as-necessary basis to London and/or Glasgow.
Reporting to the Exam Content Manager, the Taxation Qualifications Technical Adviser ('QTA') is one of a team of technical experts across all subjects looking after the quality control of all examination papers and related computer-based exams (CBE).
The main purpose of this job is to work within a small team of technical tax people to ensure the quality control of all the tax papers in the Qualification up to Professional level exams which are benchmarked as Masters’ degree level, and the Foundation qualifications including those for the Certified Accounting Technician (CAT).
This includes quality assurance of tax exams set for up to 20 different countries, for which training will be given. (No prior experience of international taxes is required)
Close relationships are required with professionally qualified tax experts from both the UK and other parts of the world. Additionally, the QTA will liaise with a variety of stakeholders, internal and external, to provide information on tax aspects of the qualifications in particular. This includes preparation of presentations and authoring and/or quality assurance of technical articles.
- Quality assurance and sign-off the content for CBE and paper exams over 35 syllabuses.
- Annual update of syllabus, specimen exams, learning support resources.
- Annual review of materials supplied by Approved Content Providers.
- Ensure ongoing quality assurance of all exam content through review of exam statistics four times a year.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
A professional accountancy qualification, or equivalent, obtained mainly with good first time passes and post qualifying tax experience OR a Chartered Tax Adviser qualification and tax experience.
Experience of working in an educational environment.
Excellent technical understanding of the relevant syllabus subjects.
Strong interpersonal skills.
The ability to deal effectively with large volumes of work to strict deadlines by having a well organised, logical and methodical approach, managing self and others.
Professionalism to act as an ambassador in external meetings such as the Global Learning Providers’ conference, Exam Review Boards, marking standardisation meetings, etc.
