Database & Systems Developer (HTML, Java Script, VB / ASP.net, CSS, PHP) - Cambridge * URGENT *
£25,000 plus benefits package.
Full time position - 37½ hour week with 6 weeks annual leave (plus bank hols).

Our client, a highly respected school in Cambridge with an exceptional Ofsted report are offering a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate with either an IT or Computer Science related degree, who is keen to develop their skills to become a Database & Systems Developer.

This is an urgent requirement and the school will provide the training, help and guidance for the right candidate, as they work alongside the existing Developer on a number of projects including SharePoint (2013) development, migrating academic departments from a SharePoint (2010) platform and looking at ways of developing digital solutions to increase the automation of business processes and improve efficiency wherever possible across the schools.

The duties of this role will include :

  • SharePoint Farm Administration, Configuration and Maintenance.
  • Using Rest API.
  • Managing and configuring SQL databases, SQL queries and Reporting Services.
  • Developing web based solutions including Parent Portal and Summer School website.
  • Taking on specific projects including the development and implementation of a video and photo management solution.
  • Working with 3rd parties to implement new applications
  • Investigating and resolving issues with current applications.
  • Understanding technologies and how they fit together, including 365, SQL Server, VMware and Office 2013.
  • End user training.


To be considered for this position, you will have :

  • An IT or Computer Science related degree or equivalent or significant workplace experience.
  • A natural passion for technology and a desire to learn and progress quickly.
  • Knowledge (and an interest) of either HTML, Java Script, VB/ASP.net, CSS or PHP.
  • An understanding of database fundamentals.
  • An understanding of Microsoft Technologies including server technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to communicate technical matters effectively to non-technical experts.
