Our established business has an immediate requirement for a Payroll Administrator with the possibility of this becoming a payroll management role.

You will be the main point of contact for payroll, ensuring that the business is compliant and produce accurate weekly, reporting and meeting HMRC deadlines. You will be responsible for:


    • Collating and inputting information for payroll, including new starters, leavers, benefits, contract changes, sickness payments, maternity and paternity payments etc.

    • Continuously review the form and content of all reports produced to improve quality, effectiveness, consistency and relevance

    • Ensure manual and computerised records are accurately maintained and updated regularly in line with data protection

    • Running of all payroll tax year end procedures and associated reporting

    • Posting of weekly/monthly payroll journals

    • Production of pay slips

    • Monthly and Yearly RTI reconciliations – reconcile with HMRC gateway and ensure communicating any variances and managing one-off tax issues as appropriate with HMRC

    • Ensuring all Tax codes, Student Loan amendments, childcare vouchers are accounted for and paid to relevant bodies

    • Salary sacrifice pension payments, BUPA and Group Life accruals processing for both payroll and accounting

    • Preparation of Payroll Payments

    • Preparation of weekly and monthly payroll reports and ensuring reviewed and signed off by Financial Controller before payment

    • Pension, Medical and Group Life assurance reporting

    • Ensure all changes to payroll, including overtime is signed off

  • Analysis, includes

    • Weekly/Monthly Payroll analysis – comparing to previous month/week with variances explained

    • Headcount Reporting - analysis of all joiners and leavers and comparison to year end and budget/forecast

    • Pension, Medical and Group Life Insurance analysis

    • Travel and Expenses Analysis vs prior month and budget

    • Overtime analysis for production and non-production staff

    • Analysis requirements will be reviewed as business requirements change

  • Management Accounts - Payroll

    • Support to improve and execute an efficient month end close process timetable to feed into the Financial Controller.

    • Own areas of responsibility and managing workload to ensure meeting deadlines

    • Balance Sheet Reconciliations to be completed monthly

    • Support in the production of the month end analysis and update the reports

    • Support in the production and preparation of forecasts for salary information

    • Travel & Expenses Reporting,

  • Control / Compliance / Risk Management

    • Work closely with finance and management teams to ensure ongoing Payroll controls are maintaine.

    • Compliance reporting to HMRC, Pension, Life Insurance and Medical

  • Budgets

    • Budget creation and any reforecasting requirements for Payroll

    • Support Management Accountant to prepare the required payroll information

  • Annual financial statements

    • Prepare payroll information for the audit files

    • Support the auditors in gathering information

    • To ensure that the tax processes are documented and adhered to – including P11’d, P46, PSA, annual close etc.)

    • Tax on company benefits – i.e. company cars P46

    • P60’s/P45

    • Year End Tax reporting – for corporation Tax on benefits on kind

    • PAYE/NI

    • Vehicle Emissions and reporting

    • Mileage Reporting

    • Liaise with Financial Controller to ensure any changes in Legislation are adhered to and where necessary, manage implementation of change should it be required

    • Review of exemptions for Payroll Tax reporting

      You will be an experienced payroll administrator good at relationship building and with a discrete approach to work. Immediate start
