A global leader in navigation, automation and communication technology seek to recruit a Commercial Contracts Manager / Commercial Manager to lead in the compilation, negotiation, control and management of commercial customer and supplier contracts.

The Commercial Contracts Manager will report directly to the Head of Commercial for a business who globally design, manufacturer supply and integrate a host of technologies for the commercial and defence related marine sectors.

This role will provide leadership across commercial contract negotiation , change, implementation and through life management across both customer (Bid/Proposals) and supplier contracts ensuring correct governance , compliance and commercial advantage.As well as taking hands on leadership with the commercial contracts with a value of c. £50m p/a the role will also have the support of and leadership responsibility of a commercial officer / administrator and will act as the key knowledge leader for all commercial / contractual issues across the internal stakeholder group.

A role well suited to a proven commercial manager or equally an aspiring senior commercial officer seeking the the progressive step in their career.

Key responsibilities of the commercial manager:
* Preparation and development of routine and more complex commercial proposals and contracting mechanisms with direct customer interface
* Input to the cost estimating process, production of final pricing to meet customer requirements and obtaining corporate approval in accordance with company delegations of authority
* Development and management of project cost models
* Identification and management of commercial risks to meet project commitments
* Support to the production and assessment of supplier request for proposals ensuring risk mitigation and value for money is achieved and suits the customer's needs
* Analysis and drafting of contract requirements and terms and conditions to ensure compliance with law and corporate policies
* Develop negotiation strategies and lead negotiations to ensure strategic business objectives are met
* Contract administration of the allocated projects to maximize profitability and ensure timely achievement of project objectives.
* Manage the commercial elements of the contract change control process
* Provide contractual guidance to the project team and briefing on project commercial issues when required
* Build effective commercial customer relationships and be the commercial focal point for allocated projects
* Assist in the development of commercial processes and procedures within the business

Role - Commercial Manager / Contracts Manager
Salary - £40000 - 50000 + benefits

Key experience required:
* Broad experience in a senior commercial officer / commercial manager capacity within a technology or engineering related sector (ideally defence, aerospace or marine related)
* In-depth knowledge of MoD contracting and procurement rules
* Experience and competency in people management (engagement with senior internal, stakeholders and customer / suppliers alike)
* Proactive style and results driven
* Ability to understand and interpret customer requirements and contractual issues to best commercial advantage
* Strong Presentation and communication skills
* Good planning and organisational skills
