My client is a leading Food and Drink who are home to a number of well-known household brands. Through continued growth and development, they are looking to grow their National Accounts team across several Grocery multiples. Adjacency have been retained to find and assess top tier FMCG talent that can help the business continue to deliver successful growth.

As a National Account Manager, you will be responsible for managing existing channel relationships and new business development to drive brand awareness and maximise return of investment for the company portfolio of products. You will have experience working across one of the Top 4 Grocery multiples and ideally already hold strong relationships with buyers at Head Office level.

Your responsibilities will include:-

  • Managing customer portfolio with existing and new business to meet sales and brand objectives within the agreed advertised and promotional spend
  • Devise and implement account plans focusing on volume forecasts, distribution, pricing and promotional objectives in line with Head Office Buyers.
  • Where appropriate achieve profit / gross margin KPI’s in line with company expectations
  • To develop collaborative customer partnerships at a senior level that encapsulates the key points within the rolling strategy plan. To translate this plan into relevant customer joint business plans and communicate with key stake holders to gain commitment to all mutual objectives
  • To build on the collaborative customer partnerships established at a senior level by devising and implementing a customer personnel contact strategy for all functions within major accounts in the portfolio including buying, supply chain, category management, space planning, marketing, operations and finance.
  • Maximise distribution, availability and visibility of brands in account portfolio and propose and implement innovative account specific activity to build brands and drive NPD in line with company objectives
  • Attend team meetings to receive and give information on portfolio performance, competitor activity and best practise learnings.

Your skills and experience should include:

  • Demonstrable sales experience within FMCG, we will consider candidates who have excelled within the wholesale channel if they can demonstrate bottom line growth.
  • Demonstrate sales & negotiation skills with buyers at a Head Office level
  • Strong communication skills, both Written and Verbal
  • Possess the ability to communicate and build relationships with key contacts at all levels
  • Highly motivated and hard-working nature - meaning your attention to detail is second to none and you adapt exceptionally well to changing priorities, fast pace and considerable workload
