Underwriter, Manchester (Fixed Term until the end of December 2017)
An opportunity has a risen for an Underwriter, on a fix term contract, for our client an established Insurer based in the City Centre.
To deliver a market leading customer service to our customers taking accountability for the service provided to an assigned panel of customers/brokers.
Work within underwriting authority and company strategy to win and retain business to support the profitable development of our customer relationship and to achieve your agreed customer growth plans.
Key Responsibilities: -
To own the development of your designated customer panel including targeted profitable new business growth in line with agreed performance goals
To be the main customer contact for your assigned panel offering telephone account management and broker visits where appropriate to the development of an account
Pro-actively support the team and department in helping achieve all of our service and operational KPI’s
Manage underwriting relationship with designated brokers and accounts to deliver profitable growth
Coach and support the development of junior underwriting staff to continually improve their technical and trading capability
Act as a referral point for junior team members in line with your underwriting authority
Work with the Team Leader to help enhance our proposition to support winning and retaining key accounts and delivering the team’s performance goals
Contribute towards financial results of the ADVANTAGE Team by supporting new business, cross selling, retention & rate and customer profitability plans
Contribute towards loss ratio control by effectively adhering to company plans.
Build an effective trading relationship with customers through regular contact and support in line with your agreed customer plans
Ensure all regulatory and compliance requirements are met
To assist and support on-going projects
To understand and comply with the company’s complaints policy, procedures and processes
Key Skills and Experience:-
Understanding of UK Insurance market
Strong trading capability - commercial awareness, negotiation skills, ability to build strong broker relationships
Strong level of technical underwriting expertise gained in relevant insurance environment
Market underwriting presence
Customer relationship management
New business development
Pragmatic decision maker with analytical and reasoning skills
