A market leading national commercial law firm is keen to appoint a Costs Fee Earner to join its expanding dedicated Costs Team which is located at the firms' headquarters inBirmingham city centre.
The practice has an envied reputation as a specialist commercial firm and acts for a number of high profile clients in a variety of sectors covering real estate, residential conveyancing, public law, commercial services, technology, energy, and corporate finance to name a few.
Working closely with the firms' Dispute Resolution Division, the Costs Team deals with all costs matters from straight forward pre-litigated cases right through to highly complex Multi-Track matters where cases have values running into seven figures.
This is a junior level role and is ideal for those whose career is in its infancy and who are looking to enter the costs sector to build a career specialising in costs.
You will have a minimum of 3 years' experience experience dealing with costs on behalf of either claimants or defendants and this experience will ideally emanate from the personal injury, clinical negligence or industrial disease sectors. You will have some experience of drafting Bills of Costs, Notices of Commencement, Points of Dispute and Replies to Points of Dispute and ideally you will have been exposed to Precedent Form H. Any advocacy experience at Costs Hearings would be advantageous but not essential. You will also have experience of negotiating settlement of costs whilst provide support on larger, more complex cases.
If you have not yet had the benefit of gaining experience in all of these areas, you are still encouraged to apply as the firm will provide significant training in all costs areas to enhance your professional skills.
You will ideally be educated to degree level and it would be beneficial if you have completed the LPC or are undergoing the CILEX qualification. You will have experience of using a case management system and you will enjoy working in a fast paced environment where no two days are the same. You will thrive in working in a challenging but ultimately rewarding atmosphere that has a real team orientated ethos.
