Great opportunity for experienced or aspiring Learning Mentor to start immediately at vibrant 11-16 girl’s school in East London. This post would suit a graduate who is looking to gain some experience in schools with a view to perhaps going on to be a secondary school teacher in the future. It will also suit an experienced teaching assistant or learning mentor who is particularly strong at giving pastoral support to vulnerable young people.
The successful Learning Mentor will be working in the specialist Pastoral team giving emotional support to 11-16 year olds who are struggling in the mainstream environment. Students could be attending the unit for a variety of reasons including self-harm, bereavement, emotional problems or being disruptive in class. You will benefit from a dynamic and hard-working staff team that really enjoy the work they do.
Ideally applicants for this Learning Mentor role should be empathetic individuals with previous experience working with vulnerable 11-16 year olds whether this be in a school or similar environment. You should be a confident learning mentor with the ability to take on a case load doing 1:1 intervention, assessments and action plans.
