Digital Transformation Project Manager / Gloucester / £35,000-£40,000

Commutable locations: Cheltenham, Stroud, Tewkesbury, Cirencester, Hereford, Bristol

Key Skills: Project management, stakeholder management, delivering digital transformations

Main Responsibilities:

- Produce project business cases and initiation documentation
- Detailed project plans
- Manage the production of the required products, work packages etc.
- Project scope and change control and escalating issues where necessary
- Prepare Project, Stage and, if necessary, Exception Plans in conjunction with Team Managers and appointed Project Assurance roles and agree them with the Project Board
- Managing project training within the defined budget
- Managing project evaluation and dissemination activities
- Managing consultancy input within the defined budget
- Working closely with users to ensure the project meets business needs
- Definition and management of the User Acceptance Testing programme
- Identifying user training needs and devising and managing user training programmes.
- Prepare any Follow-on Action Recommendations required

Project Governance

- Develop and agree required governance with required stakeholders and Senior Project Manager
- Agree any delegation and use of assurance, benefits and risk roles for overall project governance
- Manage the risks, including the development of contingency plans
- Take responsibility for overall progress and use of resources and initiate corrective action where necessary
- Be responsible for project change control and any required configuration management
- Prepare and report to the Project Board/s through Highlight Reports and End Stage Reports
- Liaise with the Project Board/s or its appointed Project Assurance roles to assure the overall direction and integrity of the project
- Agree technical and quality strategy with appropriate members of the Project Board/s

Managing a Project Team

- Matrix management of project team
- Chair meetings so that they have a positive outcome
- Listen and be receptive to other ideas and be positive with responses
- Prepare plans for the Project team’s work
- Managing and overseeing the creation of products
- Take responsibility for the progress of the team’s work and use of team resources and initiate corrective action where necessary within the constraints laid down by the Project Manager
- Advise the Senior Project Manager of any deviations from plan, recommend corrective action and help prepare any appropriate Exception Plans
- Ensure that the appropriate entries are made in the Quality Log
- Maintain, or ensure the maintenance of project files.

Staff Management

- Managing and leading the project team - matrix
- Recruiting project staff and consultants as required
- Managing co-ordination of the partners and working groups engaged in project work

Service Development:

- Help promote the adoption of innovative strategies and techniques
- Support service changes to the technology, change and continuous improvement functions and suggest recommendations regarding service changes to the wider organisation

Planning and Organisation

- Contribute towards business plans for technology, change and continuous improvement for the delivery of responsibilities including identifying interdependencies, managing risks, modelling the potential impacts on the wider organization.,

Developing an excellent organisation

- To help develop business plans for technology, change and provide advice and guidance on all areas

Enabling leadership

- To create an inclusive working environment where diversity is valued, everyone can contribute, and everyday action ensures we meet our duty to uphold and promote equality
- To ensure partnership, collaborative and cross boundary working
- To operate as a conduit, making connections, building strategic networks and relationships and levering transformation capacity
- To ensure regular, productive and open communication with staff who they lead

Information Management and Security

- Support and help promote the development, management and maintenance of systems and frameworks across the organisation
- Ensure all information management and security needs are met in order to enable effective planning and monitoring of quality

Key Skills:

- Extensive knowledge of Digital Transformation and acquired through minimum of 4 years work experience and hold a post graduate diploma or equivalent
- Experience of working within a public service sector or dealing with external agencies
- Prince 2 and MSP
- Experience of building relationships with, engaging, and influencing internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Able to demonstrate a minimum of 4 years’ experience of working at a senior level to deliver change or implement a major programme of work.
