We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Learning to join the team based at our Crawley Campus working 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. You will receive a competitive salary of £37,379 - £43,342 per annum.

Chichester College is the largest provider of further education in West Sussex. In 2014 the college was judged as Outstanding by Ofsted in all four areas, Outcomes for Learners, Teaching, Learning & Assessment, Leadership and Management and Overall Effectiveness. 8 out of 9 curriculum areas inspected were judged to be outstanding. We are a key provider of education and employment to those in our local communities and make a critical contribution to local economic development. We were established in Chichester in 1964 and also have a 570 acre land-based provision on our Brinsbury campus near Pulborough. We employ over 1,250 full and part-time staff.

As our Head of Learning you will lead a curriculum cluster and drive up the quality of learning, teaching, assessment and the student experience. You will place students at the heart of everything you do and have extensive experience of creating a curriculum to meet the needs of the local community and meet student demand.

Key Responsibilities as our Head of Learning:

- Lead and manage staff, finances, management information and resources within the curriculum cluster, in accordance with Group core values, policies, procedures and regulations and in pursuit of a high quality, effective and efficient provision

- Manage day-to-day operations of the curriculum cluster, raising the quality of the learning experience of students and their levels of satisfaction

- Research and develop the curriculum offer to meet the developing needs of students, employers and the local community, taking into account changing legislative requirements

- Participate in the College Student Support systems to help students achieve to the best of their ability

- Promote and enable the expectations of the highest standards of teaching, learning and assessment within the curriculum cluster, ensuring that all students develop knowledge, understanding, skills and abilities within a secure, challenging and stimulating educational environment

- Work with Programme Area Managers, Professional Learning Coaches, study programme/course leaders and course teams to ensure that target enrolments are met, high standards of teaching and learning are reached and maintained, and student retention and achievement are maximised

- Improve the quality of delivery in accordance with Group policies, quality assurance systems and ensure all evaluation and verification documentation are appropriately maintained, to strengthen the culture of self-assessment and continuous improvement

- Generate income for the College via commercial course offers

- Lead and support the area through any change initiatives

- Communicate effectively with all staff across the College and with external stakeholders.

Skills & Experience required of our Head of Learning:

- A Certificate in Education or Post Graduate Certificate in Education, or equivalent

- A degree or equivalent

- Coaching/Mentoring qualification, or willingness to work towards

- Further Education curriculum delivery planning and administration

- A proven record of promoting teaching, learning and assessment to a consistently high standard

- Relevant industrial experience within an area of subject specialism

- Up to date knowledge of curriculum and teaching and learning, proven through continuing professional development

- Time management skills, organisational skills and the ability to meet targets and deadlines

- Ability to travel between campuses and also for College business
