Job Description

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday 3.6 hours per day

As a member and, on occasions, leader of a team, to support the delivery of a broad and balanced early years curriculum within a caring, safe, and welcoming environment which enables each child to achieve their potential. To contribute to the creation of a positive nursery ethos which develops children's self-esteem and personal identity in a climate of trust and praise.

Fife Council pays the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate to employees earning less than £8.51 per hour. If the hourly rate of pay for the post is less than the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate a supplement will be paid.


HNC in Child Care and Education or SNNEB/NNB qualification or SVQ III in Child Care and Education/Early Years Care and Education

Registration with Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is essential.

Before your offer of employment can be confirmed, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Membership through Disclosure Scotland .

The Individual

Experience of working with young children in a formal setting

Ability to work without supervision, and as part of a team

Knowledge of Curriculum for Excellence

Knowledge of How Good Is Our Early Learning and Childcare (HGIOELC)

Experience in delivering a child centred curriculum

Knowledge of child protection policies

Highly developed communication skills

Ability to write reports and children's records

Ability to provide a regular and effective service.
