Protocol Education are currently looking for Specialist Teaching Assistants with experience of working with children with PMLD (profound medical learning disabilities) within Bolton,

We are looking for qualified and unqualified Teaching Assistants, specialising in working with children with PMLD, who are looking for work with immediate start, either on a day to day basis or long-term. Your role will involve working with students either on a 1:1 basis or within a full classroom setting supporting their learning and wellbeing. You should be comfortable carrying out supervised personal care. Being qualified in manual handling would be an advantage.

You will be expected to provide pupil feedback to other staff and outside agencies. You must follow school procedures at all times, including dress code and behaviour policies.

The ideal candidate
To be considered a real asset to the school, you must demonstrate:
•Experience within Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
•BSL (any level), Makaton or PECS training
•SLD / PMLD experience
•1:1 support and small group support work
•Strong interpersonal skills
•A friendly and professional manor

Our client has been awarded many awards for outstadnign service to pupils with severe learning needs in Bolton. The school is well supported by Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and the Psychology service.You will have proven organisational and communication skills with a strong understanding of pupils with special educational needs. Flexibility and clear thinking will be necessary in order to be able to work closely with staff and parents to help ensure that each child is given the opportunity to fulfil their potential. The school are very supportive in providing additional CPD for staff.
