As a growing product company Gentrack is establishing a role for a development leader that will support teams, evolve structure and processes for growth, and inspire excellence. Chances are you have been down this path before, but you continue to learn and be inspired by others.

You take a system-wide view in creating conditions and focus, allowing your cross-functional teams to flourish. Your background in software engineering allows you to jump into the conversation, to challenge thinking for quality, thinking within the product constraints. As part of the global product leadership team you will represent product development, and gain perspective as we evolve. We will support and encourage your personal growth both on the job and through training opportunities. While you will spend most of your time with your UK-based team, we will ask you to travel to New Zealand to build relationships with the other development groups, and just maybe a hobbit or two :)

Your Role

Reporting to the Group CTO you will:

  • Run our UK based Product Development team of 50+ people through your Team Leads.

  • Be a Leader, comfortable with managing software product delivery, coaching teams, an agile mindset, and a clear understanding of the business’ bigger picture.

  • Play a pivotal role in inspiring and motivating everyone in the Product Development group to be the best they can be.

  • Drive change within the development organisation, and foster a positive culture of continuous improvement.

  • Be part of the global Product Development Leadership team and work closely with the Product Managers, customer facing Project Managers, and Architects.

  • Foster the evolution of the product development team culture in a growing organization.

  • Evolve communication practices to ensure product development progress and outcomes are represented across a changing global business.

  • Connect the work we are doing to the wider business context and product strategy so that each week people leave with a feeling that their contributions made an impact.

  • Enjoy a little technical discussion around the whiteboard, and know enough to jump into the lunchtime discussion on SOA vs Microservices.

About You

  • Experience in managing software development teams, and working as a leader of leaders.

  • Have a passion for people and a track record of nurturing and growing them to be the best they can be.

  • Have a 'host leadership’ mindset.

  • A relentless drive for continuous improvement in processes, others and yourself.

  • A track record of building strong relationships and inspiring people through words and actions.

  • Experience with a software product company that values agile principles and practices.

  • Experience in product development would be very beneficial.

  • A relevant tertiary qualification could help, but isn’t mandatory.

  • An optimistic outlook on life, common sense and a sense of humour are essential.
