We are excited to be recruiting on behalf of a prestigious client based in Coventry. Our client is one of the world's leading research and education groups; designing solutions and overcoming challenges through collaborative R&D and world class education.

This organisation is looking for an Engineering Technician to provide technical support on research projects and related automation systems as required by the department.

Your main duties will include:
* To support the installation, commissioning and operation of automated and manual prototype manufacturing machinery for make-like-production purposes. This will include general use of hand tools for general fitting operations, electrical installations from wiring diagrams, installation and use of high-and low-voltage electrical and pneumatic systems, operating robots and special purpose machinery. You will also assist with the manual build of a wide range of applications. To manufacture components and equipment to a high standard and to defined timescales.
* You will consult and liaise with the Automation Systems Group on automation-related activities and the design, manufacture and use of apparatus and equipment in the workshop. Dealing with both internal and external collaborators on the use of equipment and apparatus within the company's facilities.
* You will provide support for both research and student projects. This includes the setting up, running and maintenance of the equipment at the company's workshops. To advise staff, students and external collaborators utilising on the use of equipment and apparatus with the company's facilities.
* You will ensure health and safety legislation is adhered is to by staff, students and external collaborators utilising the company's facilities. A high level of Health and Safety awareness working within a manufacturing hall environment. You will provide health and safety guidance and, when required, supervision for those working within the facility with the use of relevant risk assessments, safe systems of work and COSHH information.
* You will assist in the maintenance and continued development of a diverse range of specialist equipment and apparatus in order to facilitate research and teaching ensuring this is done adhering to current legislation.

Person Specification:
* Successful completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship
* HNC/ONC Engineering or similar qualification or relevant experience in a related engineering discipline/environment
* Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
* Conversant in computer software such as Microsoft Office
* Excellent interpersonal skills to ensure competent customer interface
* Excellent team working skills
* A high degree of flexibility to respond to the changing needs of both academic and industry led research
* Ability to work independently to tight deadlines to deliver high quality outcomes
* A high level of health and safety awareness appropriate for the environment, and the ability to guide and supervise other in safe practice.
