Diverse on-the-job experience is complemented by an engaging series of learning modules designed to provide you with an in-depth understanding of business principles whilst also exposing you to the latest industry thinking and expertise. These workshops are designed to help you develop the personal and professional skills required for project delivery excellence.

At the same time, you will follow a step-by-step process designed to fast-track you towards Chartership. Where applicable, we will initiate lateral moves across key disciplines to broaden your knowledge base and facilitate your continued professional development. As part of the Graduate Development Programme, you will be expected to work towards professional accreditation, with a relevant institution (ICAEW).


Laing O’Rourke are a big business, working on £multi-million projects in the UK and in other parts of the world. The Finance team manages our whole financial operation from payments and reporting to forecasting and financial planning. It’s incredibly important to the success of the organisation and the success of major projects everywhere.


It is important that you enjoy working with numbers. But you also need to be able to interpret data and see what are the trends and patterns, and how this affects our organisation.


Maths is a must if you’re going to go into Finance; but you need to be equally adept at using technology, planning and working with other members of the team.
A five-year programme that combines academic learning with on-the-job training. Successful candidates will complete a fully funded accredited day-release HNC and/or degree in their chosen area of interest while working as a Laing O’Rourke employee. The programme also includes a series of in-house modules, aimed at exposing you to the latest developments in construction and engineering. Your personal and professional growth will be supported throughout the programme using career planning toolkits and tailored development plans. During the programme you will work across a range of businesses and projects, which will offer the breadth and variety to support your career progression and will contribute towards your professional development.
