Role: Development Lead
Salary: £75,000 - £90,000 (dependant on experience)

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Development Lead within the Technology industry in West London.
Our client is a market leader in developing software for their market, with global offices and high profile clients and partners worldwide. This role includes hands-on software development and managing teams of highly technical staff.
The role presents a great opportunity to join the management team of a standalone unit, and be a key contributor to the strategic direction of the account. In this post you can drive the improvement of the engineering processes and engagement model used within the team.

What will I do as a Development Lead:
The new Development Lead will be responsible for management of a software development team, methodology and process. You will also be responsible for both the implementation software engineering best practice through independent research and collaboration with other teams and strategy for software engineering processes, ensuring stakeholders are on board and measuring progress through KPIs. A major part of the Lead role will include customer liaison regarding software engineering practices and processes.
The Development Lead will also manage resources to ensure the appropriate team shape, levels of capability and fulfilment of roles. Along with this you will have budgetary involvement and will be responsible for line management of technical staff including pastoral care, formal reviews and both identification and provisioning of training needs.
Am I the right person for this Development Lead role?:
The new Development Lead needs to have strong people management skills including experience managing developers. You will need to be an excellent communicator - both written and spoken with experience interacting with customers and business stakeholders. You will ideally 5+ years of experience working with software development teams
It is desirable that you are able to demonstrate excellent knowledge in development methodologies and tools (BDD, Agile, Continuous Delivery, Automated testing). You will also have a strong development pedigree acquired during a previous hands on development role, including experience in at least one major language (Java, C, C++) and relational databases. An awareness of source control and build tools can be used to support and manage the software engineering process would also be ideal
