About the role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a flexible individual to join our dynamic Independent Living team in Gloucester. This role would suit someone who has experience of working in the care profession, however candidates who can demonstrate required skills and knowledge will be considered and full training will be provided.
As a service support worker you will transport and resettle service users back into their homes after hospital stay. This post is part of the Independent Living team at the British Red Cross. This is a fast response role which requires motivated, committed and enthusiastic people with good communication skills and an ability to deal with people in a sensitive yet professional manner.
About the team
The Independent Living & Crisis Response service (IL/CR) supports people in the space between hospital and home and responds to the needs of people in crisis following an emergency; maintaining an extensive network of external relationships across health, social care, and emergency services
About the person
To be successful in this post you must have following skills and experience:
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
- Experience of working with vulnerable people
- Knowledge of Safeguarding legislation, Health & Safety practices and Lone Working policies - or willingness to undertake training
- Ability to identify and assess people's needs
- Understanding of monitoring and reviewing service standards and quality
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to work alone, use own initiative and to be self-motivating
- Passion and enthusiasm for supporting people
- Able to work unsociable hours
- Own driving licence and use of car for work purposes
- Able to work flexible hours
- Able to work and travel as appropriate to the needs of the job
