THE COMPANY

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Helpdesk / Service Desk Engineer to take up a position within an IT Engineering & Support Team. My client are a Maritime surveillance/security solutions provider whose services are being used by some of the most successful port authorities, leading coastal organisations and offshore operators around the world.

YOU

The ideal candidate will have a strong IT Support background, be comfortable in a complex and fast-paced environment where a balance of effective and speedy resolution of client issues is paramount. You will have experience providing 1st, 2nd and 3rd line and maintaining across the entire infrastructure covering, Windows / Linux systems, SQL server technology, VMware, other 3rd party software and Networks (predominantly LAN/WAN) within an ITIL environment (ITIL Foundation certification will be highly beneficial) You will be required to travel overseas (Europe) extensively during the first 6 months so flexibility is important

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provision of ICT technical support service including operating systems Windows Server 2016 & Linux systems, RDBS (primarily SQL Server), 3rd party software (primarily VMware), proprietary software and networks (LAN/WAN).
  • Conduct preventative and rectification maintenance at world-wide customer locations both on land and offshore. Conduct installation, commissioning and setting-to-work activities at world-wide customer locations.
  • Provision of technical and operational training at world-wide customer locations.
  • Inclusion in the remote support service 24 hours per day in a roster system.
  • Inclusion in the on-site support service 24 hours per day in a roster system at world-wide customer locations.
  • Inclusion in the weekend standby duty roster system.
  • Provision of technical support to the Marketing and Sales dept.
  • Production of reports and necessary documentation for administration and invoicing purposes.
  • Provision of technical support service for marine sensors including radar, radio, CCTV, AIS, etc.
  • Participate in Customer Support department meetings.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Support across Windows and Linux Operating Systems & Servers
  • SQL Server Support and administration
  • VMware
  • LAN/WAN Networking
  • Cisco Product support/admin
  • Proprietary Software

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • ITIL (certification preferred but not required)
  • MCSA
  • SQL Server 2014/16 (T-SQL highly beneficial)
  • CCNA
  • Experience providing supporting across SaaS, AWS and/or Docker
