Foundation Welsh Speaking Teaching Assistant
Full time, long term, Welsh speaking Teaching Assistant job within the Foundation phase. Newport.
A long term and full time job has become available for a fluent Welsh speaking Learning Support Assistant, to support within a mixed reception/year one class in a friendly mainstream Welsh medium Primary School in Newport. This job is to start asap in January 2018 and is working 5 days per week providing general support within the reception/year one class. This is confirmed until the end of the academic year with a very good likelihood that this job will be extended beyond this or will become permanent for the right person.
You will be working to support within the reception/year one class, assisting the class teacher with delivery of the Foundation Phase Curriculum. You will work on a 1:1 basis and with groups of children, enhancing their educational development in line with learning goals as outlined by the Foundation Phase. This will include development in literacy and numeracy and supporting the delivery of various initiatives and interventions as set out by the class teacher.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will support the class teacher in creating and maintaining a happy and positive learning environment for the children. You will help to keep them engaged and motivated, assisting them to stay on task and complete their work, whilst making learning enjoyable for them. It will be important that you use your excellent interpersonal and communication skills to develop strong working relationships with the pupils, and the class teacher.

In order to apply for this role you will need have;
- Complete fluency in all aspects of the Welsh Language
- Experience of working with pupils within in a primary school classroom environment
- Experience of working to support pupils within the Foundation Phase/excellent knowledge of Early Years development and education
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
- A genuine desire to enhance learning and a genuine passion for working with young children
