A fantastic opportunity for a commercial and/or professions underwriter to develop and build their career at a world class insurer based in York.
You will have the opportunity to work within the largest technology line in the UK business, challenging the Product Head on their appetite and pricing, whilst inspiring the Insurance Experts to accelerate the growth of your area.
The successful candidate will receive first class training and development from an Insurer with a reputation for excellence. This role would be a great opportunity for someone who already possesses good experience of commercial or technology underwriting, but now wants to receive the portfolio of work and career progression that this market leading Insurer provides.
Maintain profitability of the account by making sound and consistent individual underwriting decisions.
To identify and challenge non-standard underwriting decisions within the Technical. Underwriting Guide (TUG) with a reasoned referral to a product expert or senior underwriter
Speak directly with customers to ensure an exceptional customer journey.
To regularly challenge convention, writing 'nonstandard’ business and able to take decisive action on loss making business.
Take ownership of the performance of the Direct Commercial book, identifying non performing accounts in terms of key performance indicators (e.g. new business, retention and profitability) and take appropriate action or flag with the relevant people.
To write a minimum amount of new business and renewal gross written premium each year as agreed with line manager. This will include top line, conversion, profit and productivity targets
Drive the digitisation of the business through strong working relationships with the marketing and acquisitions team.
You should have a minimum of 2 years underwriting experience, with a strong knowledge of PI and commercial combined products being an advantage. In addition you should have the following:

CII qualifications are desirable but not essential
